Один из них – легендарный Абулхаир Шайбани – узурпировавший власть в Белой Орде. Два султана – чингизида законные наследники трона – Керей и Жанибек – призывают уйти часть кочевых племен от жесткого правителя. В поисках лучшей доли и свободы кочевники идут за султанами и впереди их ждут кровопролитные битвы, суровые испытания, горечь потерь и радость побед. Так в муках рождается в Великой степи новый этнос – казахи и новое государство на карте мира – «Казахское Ханство»
